2024 Mahi Championship Rules
Kickoff Party/Registration: Saturday- April 27, 2024 at 6 p.m.
Dates: May 1-31, 2024
Awards: Tuesday- June 4, 2024 at 6 p.m.

Final Registration & Captain’s Party: Saturday, April 27th starts at 6 p.m. at Volusia Top Gun, Daytona Beach.
A representative from each boat entered in the tournament must pick up your boat number and attend the captain’s meeting. At
this time, rules governing the tournament will be explained and any questions answered.

Tackle & Equipment: No electric reels allowed for fishing but may be used for teasers only. All tournament fish must be caught on
hook and line/rod and reel.

Leave/Return Inlets: You may leave from any Inlet between Mayport and Sebastian. There are no boundary coordinates but must
leave and return to one of the inlets between farthest north and farthest south points. Must stay in U.S. Waters.

Tournament Rules: This is a month-long tournament; you get to declare two days of fishing. The registered captain has the right to
substitute his/her vessel ONE TIME during competition due to mechanical failures but must complete tournament on chosen
substituted vessel. (Text 386-547-7385) You must text the day before your declared fishing day no later than 8 p.m. and you will
receive confirmation.
(If you need to undeclare it must be done before 8 p.m.- no exceptions) Fishing hours are between 7 a.m. and
5 p.m. NO LINES IN THE WATER before 7 a.m., including teasers or bait rigs. There is no maximum number of lines or teasers
permitted.


Upon returning from fishing all boats must check in via text no later than 8 p.m. A picture of your fish must be captured on the
water with your weigh # visual in the photo.
This picture is to be sent when you check in (THIS IS MANDATORY) text picture to 386-
547-7385 also at this time you must declare your scale location to where you will be weighing your fish.


You will be allowed to weigh in 2 bulls and 2 cows per declared fishing day. The weigh master WILL NOT weigh every fish a boat
catches. The heaviest Mahi will take 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place winnings. Only the heaviest Mahi (1) per boat will make the weigh-board all
other Mahi go to Calcutta. If you are in Calcutta’s, you are able to weigh one fish of each species towards the calcutta you have
entered. All fish must be brought to the scale by vehicle to Volusia Top Gun, 2900 Bellevue Avenue, Daytona or Beamish Custom
Tackle
, 76 Dockside Drive, Suite 111, St. Augustine or Bluepoints Marina, 726 Scallop Drive, Port Canaveral. The scale will be located
outside at all three locations.


The weighmaster reserves the right to hold and examine internally and externally any fish weighed to determine if the fish is eligible
for an award. Any fish that has unnatural material in or on it will be disqualified. No mutilated/or half eaten fish will be eligible to
weigh. In the case of a tie, the first to be weighed in is the winner. There are no minimum weights, but all fish need to be of the legal
size required by Florida state laws.


Weigh-ins will be between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. the following day after your declared fishing day. Please allow yourself enough time
to get there. Please remove all hooks, lures and lines before weighing your fish

Fishing Rules/Sportsmanship: All anglers (or boat if chartered) must be properly licensed. Any violation of Florida state statutes will
result in disqualification for that angler and/or the vessel the angler is fishing from. It is the responsibility of the anglers to review
Florida statutes and FWC rules & regulations. All participants will exercise good sportsmanship whether at the docks, underway or
fishing. Violators will be subject to disqualification without a refund. Violations will be at the sole discretion of Mahi Championship
management.


Disqualification: Once you leave your inlet no boats can come together, or anything can be passed between boats. All boats must
remain under their own power and fuel supply for the entire fishing day. (Special exceptions could be granted to a tournament boat
lending aid to a distressed boat).


Protest: All protest must be presented in writing to the tournament director at the weigh-in station on the day of the alleged
infraction, prior to the close of the weigh-in station. A $500 cash deposit, refundable if the protest is upheld, must accompany the
protest. Tournament management will make all decisions and their decision is final.


Polygraph: In the result of winning, you will be subjected to a polygraph test. Failure to take or successfully pass such an examination
may result in a second team member. Second failure results in automatic disqualification of the team.

teammate if she needs help. Gentleman can gaff the fish. IF YOU ARE POLYGRAPHED THIS WILL BE A QUESTION THAT DOES GET ASKED.
